King Cobras’ Approach:

  • Professional skills coaches including Johnny Hero, Frank Kern, Jadon Hoyt, Ryan Strapp, and Kevin Geist are part of the coaching staff.

  • Maximize ice time with a school and family-friendly weekend practice/game schedule.

  • Team practices will generally not occur on weeknights, so players will be able to focus on academic achievement, outside activities, and their own personal development.

  • We provide as many skating/training opportunities

  • Practice-focused approach with a combination of tournaments and showcases (approximately one tournament or showcase per month).

  • Most teams will play in the NJYHL with select teams also playing in the (EJEPHL) in addition to tournaments and exhibition games.

  • Emphasis on character, skill development, and work ethic.

  • In addition to normal practices, 3v3 gameplay will be used to develop hockey sense, spatial awareness, and small area skills. Scrimmages will also be utilized as a feedback mechanism to see what the team needs to develop.

  • Dryland and strength training to enhance speed and strength.

  • Classroom and game discussion to enhance understanding of the game and increase hockey IQ.

King Cobras’ Foundations for Success:

  • Focus on Skills & Ability through on- and off-ice training. Our players will learn the little things that can make a big difference on the ice and in life. On and off-ice training will develop skill, strength, agility, endurance, balance and deceleration techniques that are integral components in developing a AAA caliber player.

  • Nurture Competitiveness & Determination. You cannot learn to be a successful hockey player without opposition. Our players will learn through healthy competition, how to deal with obstacles and achieve their goals.

  • Develop Knowledge & Intelligence. We teach our kids how to be smarter and more effective players.

  • Foster Passion & Desire. The last, but most important component of our success model, our players shall possess a passion for hockey and the desire to compete. We love hockey and want to share our passion and love of the game!

The professional coaching staff at Cutting Edge Ice Academy will be involved with all practices, off-ice development, and training to assist in elevating your player’s hockey skills and IQ. As best we can, we utilize all our excellent Cutting Edge Skills Coaches so players get top notch training and different access to elite skills training. Our kids will learn how to be successful on and off the ice. Cutting Edge King Cobras is creating the groundwork for change and success.
